$1000 on top-10 cryptocurrencies? Cryptoinvestor shares his experiment on Reddit

On Tuesday, a post titled "I invested $1,000 in 10 popular crypto-assets" appeared on Reddit. It was published by a user with the nickname "Joe-M-4."

He revealed the details of his experiment, which he started in 2019. He called his investment an "index fund for the lazy."

The investor emphasized that the fund ended the year up 1.7%, "rallying" from $1,000 to $1,017 in one year. Even at its peak, cryptocurrencies were at best 114%, a far cry from Bitcoin's peak performance of 330%.

Of course, 1.7% gains are not terrible, but in a year when Bitcoin gained 95% on its own and traditional asset classes gained dozens of % and almost hit record growth, a yearly gain of 1.7% is pretty low.
